A 284-page internal Microsoft platform specification document for Windows Phone 7 Mango, produced at CM Group with designer Chad Lundberg. Marked Microsoft Confidential and restricted to internal Microsoft FTE, the document defined the Mango release across Consumer (Out of Box Experience, OS Platform, UX Platform, People, Phone, E-mail, Real Time Communications, Life Management, Office Hub, Search and Maps, Browser, Photo and Video, Music and Video, Gaming, Apps and Games Marketplace), Developer (Application Platform), and Partner (International, OEM & Chassis, Mobile Operator Portal) sections.
The document was used internally for campaign development, competitive score carding against iPhone and Android, product positioning and messaging frameworks, and ecosystem partnership planning. Content was collected from all listed product stakeholders, with screenshots and graphics sourced from individual teams across Microsoft.
The layout and template were designed before official Metro guidelines existed, drawing from the early-Metro principles applied in the Surface 2.0 Training course.
